my first thought (after OMG how horrible!!) was, what kind of parent would take their FOUR YEAR OLD on this ride???
Boy Dies After Disney Ride
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) - A 4-year-old boy died after passing out aboard Walt Disney World's "Mission: Space," a ride so intense that it has motion sickness bags and several riders have been treated for chest pain.
Daudi Bamuwamye passed out Monday afternoon on the attraction, which simulates a rocket launch and trip to Mars. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said his mother carried him off the ride and employees helped her place him on a bench.
Paramedics tried to revive him, but he died at Celebration Hospital.
The sheriff's office said the boy did meet the minimum 44-inch height requirement for the ride at the Epcot theme park, which uses centrifugal force to simulate twice the normal force of gravity.
An autopsy was expected Tuesday to determine the cause of the boy's death.
Officials said the boy from Sellersville, Pa., was on the ride with his mother, Agnes, and a sister.
The $100 million ride, one of Disney World's most popular, was closed after the death but was reopened Tuesday after company engineers concluded that it was operating normally.
In 2003, Disney began placing motion sickness bags in the ride.
During an eight-month period in 2003-04, six people over age 55 were taken to hospitals for treatment of chest pain and nausea after riding "Mission: Space," though none of them was found to have any serious problem.
At that time, it was the most hospital visits for a single ride since Florida's major theme parks agreed in 2001 to report such problems to the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Updated figures were not immediately available.
One other death was reported at Disney World this year. A 77-year-old woman who was in poor health from diabetes and several ministrokes died in February after going on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at the Magic Kingdom. A medical examiner's report said her death "was not unexpected."
Signs warn visitors about the intensity of the "Mission: Space" ride.
"For safety you should be in good health, and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions that can be aggravated by this adventure," one sign on view last year said. Signs also warn pregnant women not to go on the ride.
Florida's major parks are not directly regulated by the Department of Agriculture; state law exempts large, permanent amusement parks that have their own inspectors from state oversight. But the parks agreed to share safety information in 2001.
Disney officials said in a statement after the boy's death that they were "providing support to the family and are doing everything we can to help them during this difficult time."

| Wonderfalls and Tru Calling |
[29 Oct 2004|01:52pm] |
So what's the deal with the Wonderfalls DVDs? Months ago I heard that they were due out on December 7th (I think I read it at aintitcool.com), but since then I have heard nothing and last time I checked on-line (about a week ago) I found no official mention of them actually coming out. So was this all a pipe dream of mine? I have not forgotten you Wonderfalls!
Also, when is the new season of Tru Calling starting? it seems to me I looked it up and it didn't start til November. Isn't that sort of late? I saw a commericial for the OC season premiere being this week too or something, again with the late.

Hey all, I was just thinking about late night informercials (i dunno why), and i was just wondering if anybody else have seen Esteban's "Gift of Guitar"?
The informercial is where the "top selling billboard artist" is pitching his $99 guitar or something, and you could tell that he wasn't really playing during the demonstrations, so like they're overdubbed later obviously :-). And from what the host was saying, made it sound like that he's Jimi freakin' Hendrix or something :-D. But anyways, for some reason i just can't stop watching it everytime it's on cause i'm weird like that, hehe.

My TV guide gave the wrong time for Lost last night, so I missed it :(. I don't suppose anyone has a copy they would share? I'd gladly return the video with postage reimbursement! Nevermind! I found someone who will loan me her copy!

| Lost |
[29 Sep 2004|09:11pm] |
I am really loving the show 'Lost'. it is more like a movie than a TV show in a lot of ways. You can tell they are really planning things out and there are some awesome plot twists, which I won't talk about here because I know some of you haven't seen it.
If you've not caught any of the show yet, they are re-airing the first 2 episodes (there's only been 2 so far) on Saturday back to back, so check your local listings (it's on ABC) and watch it. It's a cool show.

| thoughts on joey? |
[09 Sep 2004|09:22pm] |
it wasn't *as* lame as i thought it would be. a few parts were genuinely amusing. however, they can't run a whole series off of existing joey jokes. when he started reciting the romeo speech at the audition i wanted to stab him (or myself) in the eye.
i'm also very tempted to change my LJ name to "gay for david cassidy."

In honor of my new, undying love for Zach Braff, I decided to try to watch the season premiere of Scrubs. Much to my delight, I thought it was quite funny! I had seen a few episodes from seasons past and hated them all. Don't know why, I laughed out loud several times during the episode.
BULLSEYE!
And now back to my regularly scheduled boredom.
